Meet
Adam Baker
Adam Baker grew up in East Multnomah County where he graduated from Gresham High School and received an AA in Business Administration from Mt. Hood Community College. He was soon hired full-time at the Gresham Police Department in 1998 and is now retired. Over the past 28 years, he has had many roles; including Public Information Officer, Hostage/Crisis Negotiator, Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, Field Training Officer, Chief UAS Pilot, and Detective.
Adam knew from a young age that he had a true calling to public service. In his time outside of work, he has consistently volunteered his evenings and weekends with civic and community organizations. He spent 12 years as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout. In 2001, after seeing a coworker tragically pass away while working, he joined the Portland Police Highland Guard Bagpipe and Drum Band as a way to honor the fallen heroes of our community and country. In 2009, he joined the Royal Rosarians to get a broader view of his community. He served as the Royal Rosarian Prime Minister in 2018 and traveled internationally representing the Portland area and the Rose Festival.
Adam worked as a detective for four years investigating fraud, forgery, and identity theft. He also had the opportunity to work on some human trafficking cases. Those cases drove Adam to search out ways to help those people in his community affected by these cases and he now volunteers for a non-profit group out of Central Oregon that works specifically to fight human trafficking. Adam joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 2019 to give back to his community and his country on a broader scale. He is a member of his local Elks lodge, and in 2021, he earned his real estate license. He teaches UAS (drone) classes to people as a contract instructor for a company out of Tennessee and he also operates a UAS photography and videography service in his spare time.
Adam and his wife, Lauren, raised their three kids in East Multnomah and Clackamas counties. Their children are now adults and still reside in Oregon. Adam and his wife live in Oregon City with their two dogs, and spend their free time enjoying the outdoors, traveling, and cooking new things for themselves and friends and family.
